Lauren Lui, LMFT

Helping you feel connected, present, and  confident.

Hi, I’m Lauren, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #139188). In my free time, I find great joy in reading novels and tactile activities like creating floral arrangements and taking meandering strolls in my neighborhood.

One of the things that excites me most about being a therapist is both honoring the uniqueness of each individual’s story and witnessing how the greater thread of relationships, joy, grief & everything in between connect us.

My style is curious, warm and engaged. I want to highlight the strengths and skills you already have within you to help you build a more sustainable and peaceful way of living. What energizes me most as a therapist is getting creative, collaborating with you and combining my expertise with your input to cultivate a dynamic that feels both highly individualized and empowering

A few things my clients share in working with me:

  • I’m able to better understand myself and embrace who I am

  • I’m able to show up more openly and authentically in my relationships

  • I feel more confident in my ability to navigate stress

As I’ve worked towards healing my own relationship with anxiety and perfectionism, I have invested in therapy myself and know how vulnerable, raw, and transformative it can be.  I know that it takes courage to let yourself be seen. I’m glad you’re here– by being here, you’ve taken the first step of exploring what healing could look like, and that is the hardest one.

I recognize the challenges a person of color may encounter in seeing a white therapist. I am not dismissive of these realities and prioritize addressing my privilege and its intersectionality within the therapeutic relationship. I am committed to actively engaging in these discussions to create a safe and inclusive space for all of clients.

Let’s work together to help you nurture your needs and take that full breath in… and out.

Helping high-achieving women heal from childhood trauma, anxiety and perfectionism so they can live with confidence, balance, and joy.

  • I received my Masters of Science in Marriage and Family therapy from Fuller Graduate School of Psychology & Marriage and Family Therapy.

  • In my postgraduate work, I have focused my additional training on trauma-informed, holistic modalities: Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I have also received training in Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) therapy, the leading evidence-based treatment for OCD.

I have completed basic training in EMDR and am actively pursuing advanced training and consultation towards becoming an EMDRIA certified therapist. As a life-long learner, I feel so grateful for the opportunity to continue deepening my skills and enriching my work.

MY MISSION

My mission in starting Living Gently Therapy is to create a safe, welcoming space where you can finally set down the weight you’ve been carrying and rediscover a more fulfilling, peaceful way of being. Many of my clients come to me feeling stuck in cycles of anxiety, fear, and self-doubt, and the endless “shoulds” of life. If that sounds familiar, know that you don’t have to carry this all on your own.

I help people like you reclaim your sense of self-worth, honor your needs & boundaries, and find relief from emotional overwhelm. Together, we’ll explore what’s been keeping you stuck and start building a life guided by self-trust and clarity.

Perhaps you’re just beginning to wonder if it’s possible to slow down and prioritize yourself without guilt or fear. I want to help you know deep in your bones that this is possible.

Choosing gentleness with yourself doesn't mean you’re selfish. Or, that you have to give up your goals and ambitions; those are wonderful things I hope to celebrate alongside you. Let’s champion those parts of you, exploring how they can offer guidance from the passenger seat rather than driving the car of your life and self-worth, so you can pursue your goals in ways that energize instead of depleting you.

YOUR HEALING JOURNEY BEGINS HERE.

Let go of the anxiety, trauma, and shame. Breathe deeply, live gently.
